From the moment Santos was formed on April 14, 1912 to the current day, the club has left an indelible mark on football, not only in Brazil, but worldwide. How does one adequately pay homage to one hundred years of memories? To completely encompass such a momentous occasion is a task with virtually no end. It is certainly beyond me.
These past one hundred years weren’t just about the victories and the titles. It was about the defeats, the heartbreaks, and the moments of levity. What matters above all else is the immutable. The soul of the institution that is Santos F.C. - most visible in the commitment to beautiful football - and the passion of the fans of this great club. A club without its fans is only a shell, and Santos has some of the best in the world.
This is the day to remember all those associated with the club in its history. From the clubs founders: Francisco Raymundo Marques, Mário Ferraz de Campos, and Argemiro de Souza Júnior to the current president, Luis Antonio de Oliveira Ribeiro. From the first goal scored by Adolpho Millon to Neymar’s strike against São Caetano - the 11,793th in the club’s history. To remember all the players who have pulled on the famous Santos kit, and all the coaches who have commanded the team from the touchline. The only form of immortality that exists is the one associated with memory, and all these people and moments are forever immortalized in Santos’ history.
Happy birthday, Santos Futebol Clube! Ser Santista é um orgulho que nem todos podem ter!
